An extra $130 million will build and improve homes in Inuit communities

The Government of Canada is adding $130 million to housing support for Inuit communities, bringing the total under its Indigenous housing strategy for Inuit Treaty Organizations to $327.8 million. The money, announced in Kuujjuaq, Quebec, will back Inuit-led projects: new homes, transitional housing, shelters, rent subsidies, housing navigators and short-term housing for students. 'Housing is fundamental to the well-being of Inuit families and communities,' said Pita Aatami, President of Makivvik, welcoming the investment and Inuit leadership in directing it.
