An eye treatment beat every non-steroid therapy before it in two large trials
Uveitis — inflammation inside the eye — can steal sight if it is not controlled, and steroids, the usual tool, carry heavy side effects over time. Roivant Sciences reported positive Phase 3 results for brepocitinib across two studies in noninfectious uveitis: the treatment met its main goal of time to treatment failure, and every secondary goal, in each study and in pooled analyses over 48 weeks. Chief executive Matt Gline said the trials produced 'the largest efficacy benefit ever seen for a non-steroidal therapy' — a comparison across different trials, which the company itself notes has limits, but a result that points toward a gentler way to protect vision.
