At 15 years and 202 days, Uma Kashvi just became the youngest player ever signed at a WPL auction

When lot 68 came up at the Women's Premier League auction in Kochi, Delhi Capitals opened at the base price of Rs 10 lakh (1,000,000 rupees, about $10,500) — and 15-year-old Uma Kashvi from Bengaluru became the youngest player ever signed in the league's history. Her uncle Vijay, who helped raise her and followed the auction alone from a hotel room in Bilaspur, admitted he 'cried for two-three minutes.' Kashvi arrives with serious numbers behind her: 516 runs at an average of 172 in the Under-15 One-Day Trophy, including three centuries, and a player-of-the-match bowling performance in the Under-19 quarter-final on October 22.

The upbeat factora teenager's talent was spotted so early that the record books had to make room before she can even sit her board exams.
