Australia just widened the door of its Nature Repair Market, so more landholders can get paid to restore country
Australia's Clean Energy Regulator has opened a second method under the Nature Repair Market — a scheme that lets projects earn tradeable certificates for restoring nature. The new 'enhancing native vegetation' method covers forests, woodlands, shrublands and grasslands, rewarding projects that protect and improve habitat for threatened species, including through planting, regeneration and managing pests and grazing. It gives farmers and land managers a clearer way to be paid for repair work that until now often went unrewarded.
The upbeat factorrestoring a woodland can now earn its keep — nature repair as a real line of work.
