Buyers, credit and a guaranteed market: Ghana's smallholders get the whole package

A good harvest is only half a farmer's battle; the other half is finding a buyer before it spoils. In Ghana this week, the UN Secretary-General's Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance, Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, visited agribusinesses working to close that gap. WamiAgro now serves more than 60,000 smallholder farmers across six regions, with yields up by as much as 44%. AgroCenta has moved more than 70,000 tonnes of food since 2018, with women's share as primary producers up 50%. FarmMate offers 3,000 more farmers a guaranteed market. Together they show the unglamorous machinery that turns farming into income: aggregation, credit, processing and a buyer who actually shows up.

The upbeat factorharvests with a buyer waiting — dependable income, not just bigger crops, for 60,000 farming families.
