Eight surgeons drove 2,000 miles in £2,000 cars to raise £7,000 (about $9,500) for their patients

Eight joint-replacement surgeons from the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry spent five days driving 2,000 miles across France, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Germany, Luxembourg and Belgium — in cars bought for £2,000 or less. Their Alpine Challenge raised £7,000 (about $9,500), split between the hospital's League of Friends, which funds the extras that make care kinder, and Lila's Legacy. The Friends will receive £3,500 (about $4,800) to improve facilities for the patients the surgeons operate on every week.

The upbeat factorthe people who fix hips and knees for a living spent their holiday in bangers, raising money for the same patients.
