For the deepest acne scars, a two-step treatment in Berlin is smoothing what one treatment couldn't
Severe acne can leave deep, tethered scars that resist standard care. Dermatology researchers at Charité in Berlin tested a combination approach: first subcision, a procedure that releases the fibrous bands pulling a scar down, followed by an injectable gel (a polynucleotide preparation) that supports the skin as it rebuilds. In their study, published in a peer-reviewed dermatology journal and reported this week, patients treated with the combination showed meaningful improvement in scar depth and skin texture compared with subcision alone. It is careful, incremental medicine — no miracle, just a better pairing of two existing tools, tested properly, for people whose scars are a daily reminder they'd rather not carry.
