Four new research partnerships will put Latin American scientists in the lead

In Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires, four new research teams are getting to work. The Pew Charitable Trusts is funding four partnerships pairing Pew Latin American Fellows with regional colleagues: tackling antimicrobial drug resistance in Rio, probing how plants defend themselves at the University of São Paulo, and studying how organisms adapt gene expression to environmental stress in Buenos Aires. The programme backs scientists to lead research from within the region — and to build the collaborations that keep talent and discovery at home.
