Ghana draws the map: a $10.8 billion renewable plan, 440 mini-grids and 353,000 jobs by 2030
Ghana's updated Renewable Energy Master Plan for 2026–2030 sets out about $10.8 billion of investment — nearly double the previous plan — spanning 852 megawatt-peak of utility solar, 709 megawatt-peak of wind, 127 megawatts of hydropower, 440 mini-grids for rural and island communities, and 1.1 million solar lanterns, alongside cleaner cookstoves. If manufacturing, installation and operations all land, the plan is associated with more than 353,000 jobs. It is a plan, not yet power — but it sequences the two hardest problems, big grid projects and last-mile villages, in one document, with numbers attached.
