Hex the peacock fell in love with a bathroom mirror — and Brisbane has a plan

Geoff and Delwyn Ballantyne went out for an evening coffee. They came home to find a fully grown peacock in their Brisbane bathroom, gazing adoringly at himself in the mirror. Water and crackers could not tempt Hex away from his reflection; wildlife rescuers eventually towel-wrangled him back to the bush. But Hex — the missing pet of local tattoo artist Elliot Ross, identifiable by his unusual plumage — has since been making afternoon visits to neighbour Suzie Tafolo's property. Tafolo, who has now Googled 'how to catch a peacock', has carried a full-length mirror to her back shed as bait. On Tuesday, Hex showed interest in the handsome bird in the shed mirror. The reunion plan, Brisbane agrees, is flawless: catch him with the only rival he cannot resist — himself.

The upbeat factora peacock so devoted to his own reflection that the rescue plan is simply... a bigger mirror. Brisbane is rooting for everyone involved.
