In Accra, a youth authority opened its doors — free breast screening for staff and neighbours alike

Ghana's National Youth Authority turned the forecourt of its Accra headquarters into a screening clinic on Thursday, offering free breast cancer checks to its own staff and to anyone in the surrounding community who walked in. Health professionals ran the assessments on site as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer death among Ghanaian women, and many cases are only found late, when treatment is hardest and most expensive. The point of a day like this is catching it early, when it is most survivable — and making the check-up itself feel normal.
