India's student buildathon just became the largest innovation competition on Earth

Somewhere among India's schoolchildren this year were 10 national winning teams whose inventions were strong enough to help set a world record. The Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 — a nationwide competition asking school students to build real solutions — has been certified by Guinness World Records as the 'Largest Innovation Solution Competition'. On October 28 in New Delhi, Education Minister Pralhad Joshi will felicitate the 10 winning teams and receive the Guinness certificate, at a ceremony that also launches new guidelines for teacher education institutions under the national literacy programme ULLAS. The record matters less than what produced it: a competition big enough to need a world record to describe it, built entirely out of school students making things.

The upbeat factorthe world's largest innovation competition wasn't run by a tech giant — it was filled, entry by entry, by schoolchildren.
