KSh455 million (about $3.5 million) for the health questions women were told to wait on

More than 200 million African women live with conditions like endometriosis, fibroids and heavy menstrual bleeding — yet only about 1% of global health research money goes to female-specific conditions beyond cancer. The LEA-WH programme is putting researchers where the questions are: KSh455 million (about $3.5 million) will support 20 early-career fellows from 11 African countries working on menstrual health, endometriosis, menopause, cervical cancer and new contraception. Programme director Professor Elizabeth Bukusi says the fellows get more than lab support — mentorship in product development, regulation and patents, so ideas can actually reach clinics. They present their work at the Women's Health Ecosystem Forum in Kenya on 2–5 November.

The upbeat factorthe researchers closest to the problem are finally getting funded to solve it.
