Nigeria's young builders are competing for ₦10 million (about $6,500) — to make elections work better

RISE Networks has launched AI4Elections in Abuja: a national hackathon inviting Nigerian developers, researchers, students and journalists to build practical artificial-intelligence tools for civic information, data analysis, digital security and voter participation. The ₦10 million (about $6,500) prize pool is open to citizens aged 18 and over, in teams of up to four, with applications closing November 12 and a showcase in Lagos on December 16. The programme is nonpartisan and runs with the electoral commission INEC and partners including Meta, Google and Microsoft — election technology, built by the people who will vote with it.

The upbeat factora hackathon where the prize is a stronger democracy — and the builders are the voters.
