Oman plans 1 gigawatt of battery storage to hold its sunshine for the evening

Oman's Nama Holding has signed a framework agreement with State Grid International Development to develop 1 gigawatt of battery storage — 500 megawatts at Duqm and 500 megawatts at Ibri. The batteries will store surplus solar and wind power and release it when demand peaks, helping Oman bring far more renewable energy onto its grid. The country is targeting about 3 gigawatts of storage by 2030.
