One Abuja school, two years running: its teachers keep finishing on the national podium

Wisdom International School of Excellence in Sauka, Abuja has turned teacher excellence into a habit. Its Ms. Serah Yusuf won the Maltina Teacher of the Year in 2025; this year her colleague Mrs. Cariyat Yusuf Olorunfemi finished first runner-up from more than 2,000 entries, receiving N5 million (about $3,200). A Basic Science and entrepreneurship teacher, Olorunfemi connects lessons to aquaculture, environmental education and girls' entrepreneurship — her pupils write business plans and feed the school's fish before assembly. The school also commissioned a Digital Learning Centre in October, betting that great teaching deserves great tools.
