One antibody, two targets: a cervical cancer pairing lifts survival past 30 months
Jihong Liu of Guangzhou presented Phase 3 results at the ESMO congress for QL1706 — a single, two-in-one antibody that blocks two immune checkpoints, PD-1 and CTLA-4 — added to chemotherapy for women whose cervical cancer persists, has returned or has spread. In the 492-woman trial, women on the combination lived a median of 30.95 months, against 21.78 months on standard treatment alone, with a significant gain in time before the disease progressed. It is a meaningful step for a cancer that still takes hundreds of thousands of women's lives each year.
The upbeat factornine more months of median life from one cleverly doubled antibody.
