Pharmacies lead the pack: Bangladesh's exports climb for a third straight month

Bangladesh's export engine is warming up. Exports reached $3.99 billion in October, up 4.39% on a year earlier and the third consecutive month of growth, taking the July–October total to $17.04 billion — 6% ahead of the same period last year, according to Export Promotion Bureau figures reported by The Business Standard. Garments, the country's mainstay, brought in $3.17 billion, up 4.90%. But the standout was pharmaceuticals: exports jumped 25.67% in October and 36.44% across the four months, the strongest growth of any major sector — evidence of an industry climbing from basics toward higher-value products. Remittances added their own lift, rising 12.18% to $2.87 billion in October.

The upbeat factorthe garment giant is growing a second strength — medicines, up by a third, leading the whole export table.
