Ready before the outbreak arrives: UNICEF rushes 50 tonnes of protection to South Sudan
In Juba, the preparation happened before the emergency. UNICEF South Sudan has delivered more than 50 metric tonnes of protective equipment and infection-control supplies to counties judged most at risk from Ebola and Bundibugyo virus disease spreading in neighbouring countries. Health workers, rapid-response teams, faith leaders and community members are being trained to spot symptoms early, refer patients fast and counter misinformation. A national simulation exercise has already stress-tested the country's detection system, so the first real case — if it comes — meets a rehearsed response, not a scramble.
The upbeat factorhelp that arrives before the crisis does — supplies in place, teams rehearsed, communities briefed.
