Second among the special states: Uttarakhand's clean-energy homework earns national honours
Uttarakhand, India's mountain state, has been graded on its clean-energy work — and come near the top of its class. In the national Renewable Energy State Assessment Framework, which scores states not just on how much renewable power they add but on policy, grid readiness, finances and investment climate, Uttarakhand ranked second among India's special category states. The result was conveyed in a letter dated 31 October from the renewable energy ministry's secretary, and the state will be formally honoured at the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit in New Delhi on 5 November.
The upbeat factornot just panels installed, but the whole system graded — policy, grid and investment — and a Himalayan state near the top.
