Ten green projects from six Latin American countries just won Premios Verdes 2026

In Cuenca, Ecuador, the 11th Premios Verdes — Latin America's green Oscars — have named ten winning projects, chosen from 2,087 entries across 29 countries. The winners are gloriously practical. In Peru, AQUARESTAURA has rehabilitated 79 kilometres of ancestral Andean water channels, recharging an estimated 13 million cubic metres of groundwater a year for Lima. In Colombia, BIO CO's regenerative farms work with 39 species, reuse 95% of their waste and provide 60 formal jobs. In Ecuador's Amazon, Fundación Kara Solar connects 53 Indigenous communities with solar-powered electric boats carrying more than 10,000 passengers a year — transport that runs on the river's own sunshine. 'Behind every project are people who are changing lives in their communities,' said Premios Verdes president Gustavo Manrique. 'What we ultimately want is for these projects to keep growing, and for their solutions to reach more places.'

The upbeat factorancient canals, solar boats and farms that waste almost nothing — Latin America's green ingenuity, awarded in public.
