Tomorrow's doctors are learning over shared meals — and the idea is spreading across Africa

The Green Food Experience, a small-grants programme run by the Physicians Association for Nutrition in South Africa, is expanding beyond South Africa to back student-led food events in Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Zambia and beyond. Medical students can apply for grants of up to €200 (about $235) to host shared meals and discussions exploring how everyday eating shapes health — especially diet-related illnesses like diabetes and heart disease. Events have already run in Kenya and Tanzania, and one Kenyan university liked the model so much it wants to host it across all four of its campuses.

The upbeat factorinstead of only lecturing future doctors about food, it sits them down to eat together — and lets the lesson land over lunch.
