Twenty Canadian families in cancer treatment came home to a clean house they didn't have to clean

For someone in cancer treatment, a clean home is one less thing to carry. This year 25 volunteers from Bunzl Canada joined Cleaning for a Reason — a programme that gives free home cleaning to people undergoing treatment — hosting volunteer days in Toronto, Edmonton, Vancouver and Montreal and cleaning the homes of 20 patients and their families. Bunzl also donated the equipment and supplies. The programme is marking 20 years in Canada: since 2006 it has helped 2,225 cancer patients across the country. 'Cleaning for a Reason lets our people bring that same expertise into the homes of families who need it most,' said Brock Tully, a senior vice president at Bunzl Canada. It is a small, practical mercy — a family given back an afternoon to spend on healing, and on each other.
