Two gibbons moved to Pittsburgh just in time for their big day

Dennis, 12, loves cracking puzzle feeders and making a racket with noisy toys. Anastasia, 7, is smart, independent and partial to sweet potatoes. The two northern white-cheeked gibbons have just arrived at the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium from the Gibbon Conservation Center in California — settling in the day before World Gibbon Day, which champions all 20 gibbon species, many of them critically endangered. The pair are already at home in the Tropical Forest Complex, swinging through their new canopy.

The upbeat factortwo endangered apes, a new home, and impeccable timing.
