$301 million to bring solar power to Mexico — and a stronger grid to 1.8 million people in Brazil

The International Finance Corporation, part of the World Bank Group, committed $301 million with energy company EDP: a $222 million loan for a 200-megawatt solar plant in Mexico, and about $79 million to modernise Brazil's grid for more than 1.8 million customers. Together the projects are expected to reach about 200,000 people, create more than 4,400 jobs, and cut emissions by an estimated 297,000 tons a year.
