500 students, eyes covered, moving as one: a Chennai school drills its way toward a world record

Trust is a strange thing to practise with your eyes closed. At Loyola Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Kodambakkam, Chennai, 500 students performed a synchronised sports drill while blindfolded — every turn and step taken on memory, rhythm and faith in the classmate beside them. The mass drill, staged under the banner 'Say Yes to Sports! Say No to Drugs!', was an official Elite World Records attempt, overseen by adjudicators on the school campus. Tamil Nadu's School Education Minister M. Rajmohan attended as chief guest. Whatever the record book decides, 500 children have already learned the lesson the drill was built to teach: move together, and nobody falls.

The upbeat factorfive hundred children, blindfolded and in perfect step — coordination you can only earn by trusting each other completely.
