A son pushed his mother through 21 kilometres of Valencia — and a world record fell by a full minute

Eric Domingo Roldán crossed the Valencia Half Marathon finish line in 1 hour, 15 minutes and 49 seconds on Sunday — pushing his mother Silvia in a standard manual wheelchair the whole way. That is a new Guinness World Record for the fastest half marathon pushing a wheelchair, a full minute inside the old mark, held at a pace of about 3 minutes 33 seconds per kilometre. The rules insist on an ordinary wheelchair, not a racing chair. It is not the pair's first record together: in 2022 Eric pushed Silvia through the full Valencia Marathon in 2:52:39, a mark that still stands.

The upbeat factora son, a mother, an ordinary wheelchair — and a world record beaten by sheer devotion at running speed.
