A wrong turn put Casey on exactly the right road — in time to save a family that has fostered 500 children
James and Larita Burke of Chattooga County, Georgia, have opened their home to more than 500 foster children over some 15 years. One Saturday night, James fell asleep in his recliner — and woke to a stranger standing in his living room saying, 'Hey, you've got to get out of here. Your house is on fire.' The stranger was Casey, whose GPS had sent him down State Highway 114 south of Lyerly, a road he had never travelled, with his son beside him. From the top of a hill he had seen the flames. Casey, his son and Mr Burke roused everyone inside — 11 children and a grandchild — and got them all out safely while the fire took the house and two cars. 'He was on the wrong road,' Mr Burke said. 'He said he knew that something was bringing him down that road.' The family lost nearly everything they owned; the community that the Burkes spent 15 years caring for is now rallying around them.
