Australia just broke its own renewable-investment record — with three months of the year still to go
Australia has committed more money to large-scale renewable energy in the first three quarters of 2026 than in any previous full year: final investment decisions reached 5 gigawatts, passing the old record of 4.9 GW, according to Clean Energy Regulator data, with solar doing most of the work. Rooftop solar is surging alongside: 894 megawatts across 90,042 home systems in the third quarter alone, 35% more capacity than a year earlier, and 2.8 GW installed so far this year. Since 2022, cumulative large-scale commitments approach 17 GW — a structural shift in where the money goes.
