Brazil awards all eight grid projects in its final 2026 auction — R$8.9 billion (about $1.7 billion) of new lines
Brazil's electricity regulator has awarded all eight lots in the country's final transmission auction of 2026, held in São Paulo on 30 October. The package carries R$8.9 billion (about $1.7 billion) in planned investment across seven states — Bahia, Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraíba, Paraná, Rondônia and São Paulo — building 1,866 kilometres of new transmission lines, continuing 483 kilometres of existing lines and adding 12,694 MVA of transformation capacity, the muscle that moves power from where it is made to where it is used. The 30-year concessions allow 42 to 60 months for construction once contracts are signed: unglamorous grid work that decides whether new wind and solar farms can actually reach homes.
