Eight turbines, 40,000 homes: the Serra Palino wind farm switches on in Apulia

Less than a year after construction began, RWE has commissioned the Serra Palino wind farm in Italy's Apulia region: eight turbines of 5.9 megawatts each, 47.2 megawatts in total, across the municipalities of Sant'Agata di Puglia and Candela — enough green electricity for approximately 40,000 Italian households. RWE now operates about 670 megawatts of renewable capacity in Italy, supplying more than 550,000 households, with around 200 megawatts more under construction. 'Built in under a year' is the detail worth sitting with: onshore wind, permitted and finished at pace, in the sunny south that needs the power most in summer.

The upbeat factorfrom first construction to clean power for 40,000 homes in under twelve months — speed is a climate policy too.
