Europe just widened access to a first-of-its-kind myeloma treatment from first relapse

The European Commission has approved Johnson & Johnson's TECVAYLI (teclistamab) as a standalone treatment for relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma, expanding options from earlier in the disease's course. Teclistamab is a first-in-class bispecific antibody — a lab-built protein that brings the immune system's T cells and cancer cells together so the body can fight the disease. For people whose myeloma has returned, having an off-the-shelf immune therapy available sooner, without waiting for a custom-made cell treatment, can mean treatment starts when it is needed most.
