Every inch of rooftop: Bangladesh stages its first-ever solar expo

Bangladesh will open its first-ever national solar expo in Dhaka on 3 November — a two-day showcase built around the plain-spoken theme on its banner: "Use every inch of rooftop, increase income from solar power." The Power Division and IDCOL, the state infrastructure finance company, have organised the event to connect households, entrepreneurs, investors and technology suppliers in one place, with seminars on rooftop panels, solar-powered irrigation, green financing and the tax breaks and incentives on offer. The expo backs the country's National Renewable Energy Development Strategy (2026–2030) and a government push to ease electricity shortages by 2030. For a crowded, sun-rich country where most roofs sit empty all day, the pitch is refreshingly practical: the roof you already have could be earning its keep.

The upbeat factora whole country's empty rooftops, reimagined as its next power station.
