'Everyone can learn, everyone belongs': a Bristol primary school earns Ofsted's rarest praise

Inspectors do not hand out the word 'exceptional' lightly, which is why the celebration at Filton Avenue Primary School in Bristol this week ran deep. The school earned a rare top Ofsted grade, with inspectors singling out its exceptional personal development and wellbeing work alongside high expectations and a deep commitment to inclusion. 'We believe that everyone can learn, everyone can achieve and everyone belongs, and it is particularly pleasing to see inspectors recognise the impact this ethos has on the lives of our children,' said headteacher Dan Rodeck, who has led the school for about a decade. Neil Blundell, chief executive of the Amplify Education trust, called the report a testament to staff dedication and family support. For Rodeck, the sweetest part was simple: repaying the faith parents and carers have shown the school.

The upbeat factora decade of quiet consistency — high expectations, real inclusion — finally got the one-word verdict it deserved: exceptional.
