First patient dosed in a trial aiming to regrow the myelin that multiple sclerosis destroys
Progentos Therapeutics has dosed the first participant in its Phase 1/2a trial of PRO-1562, an experimental medicine designed to regrow myelin — the protective coating on nerve fibres that multiple sclerosis strips away. Most current MS medicines work by slowing the immune attack; a treatment that repairs the damage itself would be a first. The early-stage trial is running at a site in Australia.
The upbeat factornot just slowing the disease — aiming to rebuild what it takes away.
