Greece wired up 2.7 GW of new sun and wind in ten months
Greece's rooftops and ridgelines are filling with clean power: in the first ten months of 2026 the country connected about 2.7 gigawatts of new renewable capacity to its transmission system — roughly 2.1 GW of solar and 600 MW of wind — taking total installed renewables to about 19 GW, including 12 GW of solar. About 800 MW of battery storage is now helping the grid absorb sunny middays (so much solar arrives at noon that some is occasionally turned away — the growing pains of success), and another 500 MW could connect before the year ends. A Mediterranean grid, rebuilt around sunshine in under a decade.
The upbeat factora country famous for sunshine now runs on it — 19 gigawatts and counting.
