In South Sudan, David's Ebola shield is not a vaccine or a wall — it is a trusted conversation

David Benjamin Ginana works out of UNICEF's Yambio field office in Western Equatoria, coordinating how communities hear about Ebola before any case arrives. With cases rising in neighbouring countries, his team partners with the Azande Kingdom — its health scouts, traditional authorities, youth and women's groups — alongside the state health ministry and Christian, Muslim and traditional faith leaders, so the same life-saving message arrives in a language and from a voice each community trusts. Behind the conversations, UNICEF colleagues align supplies, health services and clean water so families can act on what they hear. 'Ebola does not stop at borders, and neither does our care for one another,' David says.

The upbeat factorpreparedness built the human way — a shared message carried by mothers, chiefs, faith leaders and health workers together.
