Japan's Nxera just filed to bring a Duchenne muscular dystrophy treatment to South Korea, with fast-track status
For families facing Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a disease that progressively weakens muscles, every new treatment option in a new country matters. Tokyo-based Nxera Pharma reported it has submitted an application in South Korea for vamorolone, a treatment already commercialised internationally, and that South Korea's regulators have granted it orphan-drug and fast-track designations to speed patient access. The company also holds licences to develop the treatment for Japan, Australia and New Zealand — a regional path bringing one therapy to families across Asia-Pacific.
The upbeat factora treatment that already exists, carried across borders to the families still waiting for it.
