More than 60 Welsh museums are throwing their doors open free for half-term
Half-term in Wales just got cheaper and richer. More than 60 museums and galleries are taking part in the Welsh Museums Festival from 24 October to 1 November, with many activities free or low-cost — local history, crafts and Halloween traditions under this year's theme, 'Sustainable Hwyl', which encourages venues to use natural and reused materials. At the Museum of Cardiff, families can catch a free screening of WALL-E on Monday 26 October with no booking required, drop in to make spooky decorations, or join free recycled-material zine workshops; in Brecon, y Gaer Museum runs a free self-guided trail linking Halloween creatures to real wildlife facts. The festival, organised by Museums Federation Cymru with Welsh Government support, includes bilingual activities across the country.
