Nairobi's big teaching hospital just opened its doors wider for breast-cancer screening

The Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital, working with Kenya's Ministry of Health, has launched dedicated breast cancer screening and mammogram services. The launch capped an event from 27 to 30 October that brought together clinicians, researchers and innovators under the theme 'Integrated Action for All: Strengthening Breast Cancer Care.' Chief executive Dr Zeinabu Gura stressed that no single group can beat the disease alone — and the new services are built to encourage women to come early, get screened, and reach treatment in time.

The upbeat factorcancers found early are cancers that can be beaten — and Nairobi just made finding them easier.
