Nearly 400 climbers turned a stadium stairwell into C$122,000 (about US$88,000) for wildlife

BC Place stadium in Vancouver is built for football crowds, but on Saturday its stands belonged to nearly 400 people climbing step after step for WWF-Canada's Climb for Nature — a record turnout that raised C$122,000 (about US$88,000) in a single day. Together with climbs at Toronto's CN Tower and a do-it-anywhere version, Canadians have now raised C$1.6 million (about US$1.15 million) for nature in 2026. Olympic soccer champion Stephanie Labbé, who played her final national-team game in that same stadium, climbed alongside them. 'The stadium was full of hope,' said WWF-Canada's Megan Leslie.

The upbeat factorhundreds of neighbours, thousands of stairs, and a stadium's worth of hope converted into habitat money.
