One rulebook for AI, written together: Europe, South Korea and Japan team up on standards
AI systems cross borders in milliseconds; the rules for their safety should be able to keep up. The European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) has signed a letter of intent with South Korea's Telecommunications Technology Association and Japan's Telecommunication Technology Committee to explore an AI Partnership Project — a joint effort toward global standards for AI safety and interoperability, announced Monday. The logic is simple: if the labs and markets of Europe and East Asia agree on how AI should be tested and how systems should work together, builders everywhere get one clear rulebook instead of a patchwork — and users get technology that behaves predictably wherever it was made.
