Storm would not go back to bed — and that is why Gary is alive

Sandra Donally, 62, of Staffordshire, England, lost her hearing suddenly in 2017; since 2024 her trained support dog, Storm, has been her ears. Shortly after midnight, Storm leapt onto Sandra's bed and sat ramrod straight, staring at the landing, refusing every instruction to settle. Sandra followed the stare — and found her husband Gary crumpled at the bottom of the stairs, unconscious and bleeding from a fall. Paramedics took him to Royal Stoke Hospital, where he spent 24 days having his broken jaw rebuilt. 'He'd have lain there for six hours,' Sandra said — until their usual 6:30 alarm. 'I'll always be so grateful to her for alerting me.'

The upbeat factora dog who would not be told 'it's nothing' — and a husband home because of it.
