The fastest punch on Earth belongs to a man who calls his condition his superpower
Pekka Luodeslampi's punch lands in 0.186 seconds — the fastest response time ever recorded, a Guinness World Record he set in 2020 and still holds. The 40-year-old Finn has a central nervous system developmental disorder that brings Tourette syndrome and, in his words, a nervous system running at 'borderline superhuman level' — which he has turned into a string of records: the longest volleyball serve at 21.05 metres, 209 full-extension punches in three minutes, 21 chopsticks snapped with a single strike. His record categories carry Guinness's impairment classification, which exists to make record-breaking fair and open to everyone. 'Superpower' is his word for it — and after five standing records, it is hard to argue with him.
