Pizza, hugs, and a first-of-its-kind STEM exchange: Taipei students said farewell to their Seattle-area hosts

Students at Mountlake Terrace High School ended a week of firsts with a pizza party on 30 October, saying goodbye to 15 visiting students from Taipei Municipal Songshan High School in Taiwan. It was the schools' first STEM exchange, hosted by study-abroad organiser Go 2 Seattle Study, whose founder Kelly Hsu helps Taiwanese schools build lasting partnerships — and formal agreements — with schools in the USA. The organiser marked the week with a $2,000 gift to Mountlake Terrace High. The plan, both sides say, is for this visit to be the first of many.

The upbeat factorfifteen teenagers flew across the Pacific for science — and left with friends, which is the exchange that matters most.
